DIRTY SEXY MONDAYS

By ADA HUTCHINSON

Since their early days at Axis around the corner, Dirty Sexy Mondays has been the party de rigueur for the LGBT industry set. Chances are, if you're one of the night's regulars, you undoubtedly know all about DSM and its 13-year legacy. Yet during Pride Week 2009, not all that much will change. It'll be just the same great party.

"We're just doing all the pride anthems in our show," says host Miss Kris Knievil, talking about the weekly drag show featuring resident guests Fena Barbitall, Raquel Blake and JuJuBee. "Pretty much just keeping with the theme—keeping it gay and fun."

Fun doesn't begin to describe the outrageous nights that can sometimes go down at Machine, the huge club behind the shrubbery at 1254 Boylston. Consider, for example, the approaching Drag Queen Jell-O Wrestling event in July. "Last year we made 40 gallons of Jell-O. My mother actually works for a food service—so we get the big industrial boxes of it.

"That crap gets all over," she says. "I was just talking with the lighting guy at the club, in fact, and he actually found one of our wigs stuck to the ceiling six months after the fact." The sans-Jell-O pride party should certainly be at least an outright blast, and Knievil is sure everyone will have a grand time, especially with the all-encompassing aesthetic of resident DJ Susan Esthera.

"It's gays, it's lesbians, it's straight, it's trannies, it's tranny-chasers—it's such a wide variety of people."

Digisodes: Webisodes for the Dig's Online Website

By mattdefaveri on Fri, Nov 13, 2009 7:14 pm

My name is Matt DeFaveri. I'm an intern for the Weekly Dig. Mi compadre, Nathan Wahl (who I got an internship here—you're welcome by the way Nate, you boner) approached me a number of weeks ago with the idea to shoot some online webisodes for the Dig's website. Nate also likes being called "Mr. Monsieur Redundancy," so if you run into him on the street, rub it in his face.

Travis Review :Arts At The Armory 11/1/09

If every band could seamlessly pull off a rather intimate show the way Travis did last Sunday, the world of music would be a much different place.

WICHITA IS NOW "KNIGHT & DAY"

By dayvidday on Wed, Oct 14, 2009 9:28 pm

According to the press release below, the Tom Cruise movie that has been filming here in Boston is now called "Knight & Day."

Now, I'm not in a focus group or otherwise, but I'd be much more prone to seeing a movie called Wichita than one that is called Knight & Day. Espcially if Cruise is playing some agent named "Knight" and Diaz is Ms. Day.

But maybe I'm wrong.
