Taylor Locke of Rooney

By Brian E. King

DefYo_TaylorLockeRooneyLG

Taylor Locke is the dreamy lead guitarist of California's Rooney. Unfortunately, you've probably heard of Rooney from Fox's The O.C., or even their recent tour with Disney darlings/demons, the Jonas Brothers. Fortunately for Locke, he's dating The O.C.'s lead hottie Mischa Barton, has an oddly amazing side project solely dedicated to Def Leppard while his band continues to release some of the best power-pop since Weezer's debut.

HOW WAS YOUR MEMORIAL DAY?

I don't know, I was in Paris.

THE FRENCH DON'T CELEBRATE THAT DO THEY?

... no.

YOUR SIDE PROJECT, LOUD LION, IS A TRIBUTE TO DEF LEPPARD PRODUCER MUTT LANGE. IS IT YOUR FAULT MUTT AND SHANIA TWAIN ARE DIVORCING?

Exactly, they heard our record and couldn't go on.

YOUR FIRST TOUR WAS WITH WEEZER. IS RIVERS CUOMO CRAZY?

He's definitely eccentric. If I ran into him I don't think we'd have a drink, but we'd share a smile and a firm handshake. He loved our first record.

YOU'RE DATING MISCHA BARTON, WHY ARE THE GOSSIP RAGS HATIN'?

I don't read that stuff. People just need to fill pages.

MY GIRLFRIEND THINKS YOU GUYS ARE HOT. ANY CHANCE YOU'LL TONE IT DOWN IN BOSTON?

For you? No. We'll still look good.

SINGER ROBERT SCHWARTZMAN IS A COPPOLA (FRANCIS FORD IS HIS UNCLE). DO YOU GUYS QUOTE GODFATHER LINES WITH HIM?

[laughs] No, there's a healthy respect there.

YOU RECENTLY TOURED THE COUNTRY WITH THE JONAS BROTHERS. I DIDN'T GO BECAUSE THEY'RE A KIDS' BAND.

Yeah, we've heard that a few times. They actually asked us to tour with them four days before the tour started

KIDS ... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?

Health and Human Services Public Hearing

“One of the most heart breaking things for me is the great number of homeless veterans,” said Ralph Cooper, executive director of Veterans Benefits Clearinghouse. “As you can tell, I’m getting older and my gray hair tells the truth. You can’t imagine how painful it is for me to talk with men and women who served in Vietnam, men and women who are young, coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq and they are homeless. How disgraceful is that?”
