HEAVY METAL IN BAGHDAD

We usually don't think of going to a Metallica concert and getting schrapnel in our skull, but for Acrassicauda (Latin for "black scorpion"), Iraq's only heavy metal band, it's quite a real situation. The story begins in 2003 and follows the band as their lives become distorted by the years of our bombing the shit out of Iraq. On top of that, they have to deal with an American rocket blowing up their only practice space and throwing their concerts when everyone needs to be home by sundown. All in all, their story reminds you metal isn't about sappy love ballads or painted-on trousers, but rage, struggle and pain. Acrassicauda has seen and lived all of that. Even though they risk being shot for wearing an Iron Maiden shirt, they continue to rock on.... In the immortal words of Bruce Dickinson: "If you're gonna die, you're gonna die."
