MIKE RELM'S CLOWN ALLEY

3D CLOWNING

By Brent T. Ingram

DVD_MikeRelmClownAlley

The newest VJ/DJ mashup dude out of the hype factory, Mike Relm clearly has access to some high-end equipment. Having heard oodles about his mind-blowing DJ style, I must say the footage of his skills leaves something to be desired. Certainly, his technique is pretty excellent, but thousands of turntablists around the world could keep up. What separates Relm from the pack is his VJing. Instead of the standard two-turntable setup, Relm works with an expensive video mixer and takes over-played music from likes of the Beastie Boys ("Sabotage," natch) and manipulates images of things like all-star wrestling to the beat. I say give someone like local scratchmaster 7L this piece of gear and you'll get the same result. It's no wonder magazines like People ("Spellbinding") and US Weekly ("A Must See") sing Relm's praises—those folks may not even know you can manually change the TV channel.

Health and Human Services Public Hearing

“One of the most heart breaking things for me is the great number of homeless veterans,” said Ralph Cooper, executive director of Veterans Benefits Clearinghouse. “As you can tell, I’m getting older and my gray hair tells the truth. You can’t imagine how painful it is for me to talk with men and women who served in Vietnam, men and women who are young, coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq and they are homeless. How disgraceful is that?”
