SNOOP DOGG DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT

SPARK IT LIKE IT'S HOT

By ISABELLE DAVIS

DVD_SnoopDoggDrop

Although nothing will ever top his performance on the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards (the one where he rose out of a coffin during "Murder Was The Case" and rapped while being carted around in a wheelchair), the Doggfather always puts on an entertaining, almost cartoon-like show. Filmed in Brussels in 2005, the DVD plays like a This Is Your Life: The Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. edition. Pretty much every hit single that the family man (have you seen Snoop Dogg's Father Hood? So many jokes.) has graced us with since 1993 is there, including the classic "Deep Cover." The Dr. Dre, Suge Knight and Pharrell years are all covered, but the real selling point is not the guest appearance from the Game, as the DVD claims, but the in-depth look at Snoop's career trajectory; from the Crips to endorsing his own pet accessory line.

Rooooll call!Rooooll call! So, the roll call vote feels more like a game show than a democratic process. It basically goes like this:

Secretary Alice Germond (the host in our little metaphor), says the name of the state, and the giant screen behind her sports the state's name, and how many votes it's been afforded.

"State," says Germond.

Night Two of Pageantry

By CaraBayles on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 2:48 pm

On Monday night, your trusty Dig reporter was relegated to the press gallery, and spent an hour and a half trying to find the damn booth for rotating floor credentials, being sent up and down the stairs, getting a different answer from every DNCC staffer. It made my thighs slightly stronger and the ball of rage in my stomach significantly heavier. It made me wonder how the Dems would run a country, when they can't credential a reporter. But last night I found the magic booth and got onto the floor, so all is forgiven.
