The Soundway record label is without a doubt one of the world's finest. Each release is diligently authored, elaborately packaged and researched more than the Kennedy Assassination. Nigeria Special is only their 9th release, but what a double-disc doozy—26 previously unheard tracks of splendid Afro-beat, collected and culled by Soundway owner Miles Cleret over a full 5 years of delicate listening. The man even took extended trips to the Mother Continent to make sure he got it right. The only problem is that it might be featured on Morning Edition or Uncle Luther might discuss it while stroking his long grey ponytail. Yuck.

Hi Weekly Dig.

Alternatively to Morning Edition, did you know that:

There's an official fansite to celebrate the release of Nigeria Special at: http://nigeriaspecial.info With articles, videos, audio and more, where people can discuss Nigeria Special.

Is it possible to get a link in your posting? Best wishes and thanks for nice words about Nigeria Special.

The Middle East is a great venue when it's kind of full--but it can be a mess when it's completely sold out.

Surfer Blood & Turbo Fruits

By ioncrash on Mon, Mar 8, 2010 5:26 pm None-too-shockingly, Jonas Stein of Turbo Fruits (formerly of Be YourOwn Pet) turns out to be a pretty chill guy. After all, the dude’s written more songs about weed than I care to list right now.
