Mike Skinner is reaching. Feel-good eponymous anthem "Everything is Borrowed" has a nice bounce to it, and the concept is pleasant enough, but Skinner has a sort of car-commercial flow that I just can't get behind. Too much wit, not enough grit. The music production is where the album really shines, each song more surprising than the last. If The Streets would stick to arranging tracks for more dexterous rappers, I bet The Neptunes or whatever would be out of a job.
