Three weeks ago I was invited to open an account at Citizens Bank, only the latest in their endless series of promos to get business.
Now I had had some trouble with these people in 2005 after some silly fool entered the wrong info into my account. Rather than deal with it and fire whoever did it, they closed my account and refused to explain why. So I told them, I want your assurance that this wont happen again.
Guess what? It happened again. The very day they sent me my new ATM card and checks, they also sent a letter saying they reviewed the account and decided not to do business with me. No explanation. The letter was clearly constructed on someone's PC using MS Word. Not bank stationery. Customer service, toll free line, this office, that office... no one would explain.
So the rent check I wrote bounced, after they assured me it wouldnt. The landlord got charged a fee, which Citizens assured me wouldnt happen. I have had to call other creditors and advise them to destroy bill payment checks I wrote, to avoid more fees.
If these people were a legitimate business, I could complain to the BBB and the Attorney General and other agencies and expect satisfaction. But being a bank, they are omnipotent and answer to no one. So the best thing to do is pull the rug - and the money - out from under them.
Take your money out of Citizens. They are a fraud.
