Bowl a thon 4 Cancer Support (45 Day St, Davis Sq. Somerville, Oct 2)

By benjamin_garton on Thu, Sep 13, 2007 5:59 pm

I volunteer for a wonderful organization, called the Center for Cancer Support and Education. Their mission is to empower and supports people touched by cancer, their caregivers and loved ones, by offering resources to enhance life as they move forward.

I am writing to see if anyone is interested in participating in their annual fundraiser: a Costume Bowl-a-Thon at Sacco's Bowl Haven in Davis Sq on Oct 2..it's a candlepin bowling alley and is so much fun! Does anyone want to join my team, start your own team, or be placed on a team? Teams usually pick a theme and dress in costume..last year we were pirates.

There is free food from Redbones and JP Licks! Bowling registration and shoes are free, there are lots of prizes, and there will be a super DJ!

If you aren't a bowler but would like to be involved, I am asking for contributions of 10 cents/pin that I manage to knock down...or a flat contribution amount.

Money donated will help support their Wellness Program, which is a one-on-one series of sessions for cancer patients, their family, and caregivers, to try a variety of wellness exercises such as guided meditation, art and music therapy, reiki, journaling, life coaching and dialogue, and creating their own "pathway to wellness" depending on what the individual needs. The Center also offers free support groups.

Here is the information about the Bowl-a-Thon:

* The Bowl-thon will be held on Oct 2, 2007 at Saccos Bowl Haven, 45 Day St in Davis Sq

* Each team's donations will be matched by a corporate sponsor--find your own or contact the Center for one

* Teams are encouraged to choose a creative theme and costumes based on their corporate sponsor

* The event consists of three games As our way of showing appreciation for your participation bowler registration, including lane and shoe rental as well as dinner are all complimentary

Day #2 at Tales...

Day #1 at Tales...

By pinklady on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 7:15 pm

Began late with a perfect Pimm's Cup and breakfast at the Napoleon House. YUMMMM...If you've never had a Pimm's Cup do yourself a favor and check this cocktail out, especially if you happen to be in the quarter, near the Napoleon House. We also sampled a Roast Beef Po' Boy, since evidently the deep fried version we had the evening before just wasn't enough for us, and a Muffaletta, which comes portioned as a whole, half, and quarter sandwich. We ordered the quarter size, and it was still as big as my head.

Tales Pre-party

By pinklady on Wed, Jul 16, 2008 12:24 pm

Before dinner MiMi, Em, and I (Pink Lady) head down to the Carousel Bar for Vieux Carres and to meet up with Hanky Panky and Barbara West. The Carousel Bar spins in the center of the room, so to chat with these seated gals, we have to march slowly around the room with them. We're doing the "Carousel Crawl." It looks impossibly silly.
