Digisodes: Webisodes for the Dig's Online Website

By mattdefaveri on Fri, Nov 13, 2009 2:14 pm

My name is Matt DeFaveri. I'm an intern for the Weekly Dig. Mi compadre, Nathan Wahl (who I got an internship here—you're welcome by the way Nate, you boner) approached me a number of weeks ago with the idea to shoot some online webisodes for the Dig's website. Nate also likes being called "Mr. Monsieur Redundancy," so if you run into him on the street, rub it in his face.

"Think about this," he says after we sit down in a Starbucks. "DIG-isodes." Well if there's anything I hate more than posturing, it's thinking. But I wracked my brain and Nate and I hammered out the specifics, how we want the show to look, why we're doing this, and whether we thought the cashier that gave me my coffee was cute. She was.

Thankfully, Nate brought with him a couple of really terrible drafts he wrote earlier that I turned around into something halfway presentable to our editors and supervisors and one two three, bing bang boom, fe fi fo fum, however the hell you'd prefer I segue into the next sentence, we had a feasible idea to present to Laura – our managing editor – and Jim – el vice presidente of el Dig– backed up by several minutes worth of research.

And the rest is history.

Actually wait, there's more. Laura and Tak, our creative director, graciously edited our scripts, and as Nate and I prepared for our first shoot I pitched huge a tent in excitement. Right in the middle of the Dig office, in front of everyone. Then, just as I was zipping up the bug flap on the inside Laura made me take it down. I was so flustered.

But I stopped acting like a whiny asshole, pulled myself together and gathered a crew to shoot our first episode that weekend. We cranked out some solid footage and have the first two episodes of our first season of DIGHEADS uploaded. Plug in your headphones, turn up your volume and tell everyone around you to shut up because you're watching something funny. Righteous.

Nate is so hot with his shirt off, can we see more of that please? Matt is just a bearded freak, however a briliant actor. UncleSpecialK

I just fled the dining room at the hotel because I ruined Texas-shaped waffles for everyone.  I got four hours of sleep last night, and Jess and I just shuffled off for free breakfast like zombies.

Like a cool kid, I slept through my alarm back in Boston yesterday morning, scrambled to finish packing before my last minute cab showed up, and then forked over $40 for said cab to drag my sleepy ass to Logan for my flight to SXSW.
