Club 58 New Years Eve Press Release

By silentpartner on Mon, Dec 17, 2007 4:38 pm

December 10, 2007 For Immediate Release: On New Years Eve, December 31st, 2007, Scion of Weymouth and B3 Productions present an audio visual assault you won’t soon forget.  For one night only, New York City’s own Roxy “Oxy” Cottontail will bring her unique style on the mic and turntables to the Club 58 located at 58 Ross Way in Quincy, MA.  Roxy will headline this exclusive gala event which will feature DJ Stenny and Silent Partner, as well as other special guests.  It promises to be a night of good vibes, cocktails and dance floor devastation.         Over the past 3 years, Oxy Cottontail has distinguished herself as a restless and relentless, DJ / rapper in NYC nightlife.  In addition to her weekly Monday party at Sway in West Soho, Roxy recently started Bell Hop, a 90’s hip hop party every Wednesday at Room Service on 21st and Park. Her parties range in style from hip hop, reggae, electro, rock, and karaoke, to various artist showcases. Oxy Cottontail events are regularly featured in magazines such as i-D, The New Yorker, The Village Voice, BPM Magazine,  and  New York Press. You can hear her fresh style burning up the club scene internationally on the current Armand Van Helden collaboration,“ Playmate, ” as well as on her own hit single “Kate Moss.”  Roxy may stand small in stature, but with this much heart and moxie, the old adage is proven again that good things come in small packages!                                                                                                                                                 "Roxy Cottontail is the woman that every girl rocking Nikes and huge earrings longs to be. Roxy is a street wear fashionista, full-time hustler, and arguably one of New York's best-known promoters. She got into the business by spreading the B'more club sound and making stars out of acts such as Spank Rock and Hollertronix. She also DJs and recently got into producing music for herself. Roxy raps over beats that are a little punk, a little funk, sample-heavy, and undeniably dance-party worthy. Imagine a mix of Peaches, the Rapture, and Gravy Train and you're almost ready for Roxy's set." -  flavorpill.net             DJ Stenny aka Steve Steniford is known as one of the most effective promoters in the Boston club scene.  His monthly parties held at Club 58 regularly sell out as soon as they are announced.  When he’s behind the decks you can expect a tight, eclectic mix of top40, hip-hop, disco house and some of the best remixes from around the globe. In addition to his weekly residencies throughout Boston and Quincy, Stenny has been working with Scion of Weymouth to create new and exciting events incorporating DJ's, graffiti writers, B-Boys and B-girls and live on-the-fly visuals by nationally renowned artists.                                                                                                                         MOREOver the past ten years, DJ Silent Partner aka John Dow has honed his DJ skills at many lounges, clubs, bars and block parties.  Developing his talent in mixing, blending and scratching, to construct post-modern collages, earned him first place in the Karma Club DJ battle in the summer of 2000.  Since then, he has been a staple in the Boston club scene, turning up and burning down dance floors at such notable venues as Saint, An Tua Nua, Underbar, Phoenix Landing, Axis, Avalon and Wonderbar.  When he mans the decks, you can expect a quick mix run of funk, disco, golden age hip hop, one hit wonders, classic electro and it’s newer, disco-house counterparts.  His nomenclature may be Silent Partner but upon approach, you’ll find a very engaging individual who will hold court with any music enthusiast.                                                                                                                          Rounding out the bill for the night’s turntable talent will be DJ’s Tommy P, Jay, Rev 240 and Geon Flux Club 58/Shooters, located at 58 Ross Way (behind 1515 Hancock St)  in Quincy Center,  is one of Quincy's biggest, and best nightclub/bar venues.  The Club is over 10,000 sq ft, with 7 pool tables and 2 bars.  With a fully equipped stage, sound system, DJ Booth, a large dance floor and an even larger drink/beer selection you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Tickets are $15 at the door the night of the event or can be purchased in advance for the reduced admission of $10 by logging on to http://going.com/meltdown For more information please contact the following: Steve Stenifordstenny51@mac.comhttp://www.myspace.com/djstenny 1-617-.959-2033 B3 Productions (Boston DJ’s, Bands and Nightlife)http://www.myspace.com/b3productions  John Dowjjdow77@yahoo.comhttp://www.myspace.com/djsilentpartner 617.785.7919             Roxy Cottontail  Peter Oasis@gmail.com http://www.myspace.com/oxycottontail                Scion of Weymouthhttp://www.myspace.com/scion_of_weymouth   Club 58www.club58.comhttp://www.myspace.com/club58shooters   # # #

Day #1 at Tales...

By pinklady on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 7:15 pm

Began late with a perfect Pimm's Cup and breakfast at the Napoleon House. YUMMMM...If you've never had a Pimm's Cup do yourself a favor and check this cocktail out, especially if you happen to be in the quarter, near the Napoleon House. We also sampled a Roast Beef Po' Boy, since evidently the deep fried version we had the evening before just wasn't enough for us, and a Muffaletta, which comes portioned as a whole, half, and quarter sandwich. We ordered the quarter size, and it was still as big as my head.

Tales Pre-party

By pinklady on Wed, Jul 16, 2008 12:24 pm

Before dinner MiMi, Em, and I (Pink Lady) head down to the Carousel Bar for Vieux Carres and to meet up with Hanky Panky and Barbara West. The Carousel Bar spins in the center of the room, so to chat with these seated gals, we have to march slowly around the room with them. We're doing the "Carousel Crawl." It looks impossibly silly.
