INTERVIEWED OUTSIDE GRAFTON STREET AFTER 8 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT AT BOSTON'S WEEKLY DIG, 6.12

How does it feel to leave your first job ever at 30?

Feels pretty sweet. I've been playing a lot of Wii Tennis. I'm getting very good at it.

What memory stands out after eight years at the Dig?

We had an absinthe party many years ago and the owner of this fine establishment, myself, my boss and several of my fine colleagues decided to put our head through a wall. A wonderful, wonderful night.

How do you reconcile your legendary love of bacon with your Judaism?

I have always wanted to write a book called Jews For Bacon. Bacon is a vegetable. My rabbi doesn't know of my love for bacon.

You're in the bacon closet.

I am not in the bacon closet! I'll say it loud and proud: "I'm here, I love bacon, get used to it!" Yum yum gimmie some.

How many ads did you sell for the Dig?

Thousands ... Of which 25 percent were legitimate ... Of which 5 percent I have contracts for.

As a native New Yorker, who's your favorite Red Sox player?

[silence]

What was your finest memory at the Dig?

Eighteen and one, dawg. Eighteen and one.

Rooooll call!Rooooll call! So, the roll call vote feels more like a game show than a democratic process. It basically goes like this:

Secretary Alice Germond (the host in our little metaphor), says the name of the state, and the giant screen behind her sports the state's name, and how many votes it's been afforded.

"State," says Germond.

Night Two of Pageantry

By CaraBayles on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 2:48 pm

On Monday night, your trusty Dig reporter was relegated to the press gallery, and spent an hour and a half trying to find the damn booth for rotating floor credentials, being sent up and down the stairs, getting a different answer from every DNCC staffer. It made my thighs slightly stronger and the ball of rage in my stomach significantly heavier. It made me wonder how the Dems would run a country, when they can't credential a reporter. But last night I found the magic booth and got onto the floor, so all is forgiven.
