By DAVID DAY

So why the BSO on a Monday night?

Hilary: $16 lawn tickets. And Hannah is a really gifted singer, so I'm soaking in the education she can give me.

What was the best thing about the Debussy?

Hannah: I like the impression it leaves you at the end when you move into silences and you ask "Did that actually happen?"

You're one of the few young people here, are you trendsetters?

Hilary: I think so.

Hannah: Pop music is dead ... That is a lie.

Where did you learn to sing?

Hannah: I've been studying voice since high school. I study Satie now, but I don't think he's necessarily a songwriter.

Why should people come out to Tanglewood?

Hilary: Classical music can do what theatre does: change your perception of space. And who doesn't want their perception of space changed? It's why we do drugs, isn't it?

Hannah: And to hear something like the Alpine Symphony at night time when the birds are chirping ...

I loved the birds chirping!

Hannah: ... it's profound.

Where do you guys go to school?

Hilary & Hannah [in unison]: Brown!

“One of the most heart breaking things for me is the great number of homeless veterans,” said Ralph Cooper, executive director of Veterans Benefits Clearinghouse. “As you can tell, I’m getting older and my gray hair tells the truth. You can’t imagine how painful it is for me to talk with men and women who served in Vietnam, men and women who are young, coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq and they are homeless. How disgraceful is that?”
